Rijk's Private Cellar took top honours against stiff competition at the 2001 Michelangelo International Wine Awards. Their 2001 Pinotage was awarded the Grand Prix Award by Swiss International Airlines.

This year's competition rendered twelve double gold medals. Pictured are the winemakers and representatives of these ten cellars. They are Henri Swiegers (wine maker, Slanghoek), Willem Loots (wine maker, Kleine Zalze), Lizelle Gerber (wine maker, Avontuur), Amanda de Klerk (representing Delheim), Anthony de Jager (winemaker, Fairview), Charl du Plessis (wine maker, Rijk's Private Cellar), who won the trophy for the best overall wine of the 2001 competition, Joanne Sussman (representing Vergelegen), Claire Dorrington of Rijk's Private Cellar, Altus le Roux (winemaker, Boland Wines) and Mark Taylor (representing Delaire).
